Starting from September 22, Riga School Support Association can also receive financial support

Latvian Community Initiatives Foundation (LCIF) is now waiting Riga School Support Association to apply for the programme “Together with family and school”. The programme is supported by SEB bank and it foresees that financial aid will be granted for extra curricula activities.

The origins of the programme to be found in 2007, when Latvian Community Initiatives Foundation (LCIF) begun its cooperation with SEB bank by offering a programme “Together with family”. In 2010 the programme has been expanded and new programme “Together with family and school” has been carried out in Latvian regions. Financial support was given to School support Association, which organises extracurricular activities for youth by helping acquire different skills and by involving young people in other activities.

LCIF chairman of the Board Olga Veilande: ”I am pleased, that thanks to this programme, which sponsor is SEB bank, we can help children and parents to solve the question of how children spend their free time. Instead of doing pranks, children are now given a chance to acquire different useful skills. I am glad, that not only schools involve in this process but also, parents, grandparents, thus everyone wins.”

President of SEB bank Ainars Ozols: ‘’We live in a time, when there are a lot of temptation and challenges, therefore cooperation with social partners, who understand needs of local community and are ready to contribute in youth’s development, and this is the aim of SEB bank. In last four years we had a chance to see the professionalism of community initiatives foundation, by improving quality of extracurricular activities in many villages and towns in Latvia, like- Kraslava in Livanu region, Apes region, Livberzes parish, Kuldiga region, Seces parish, Aluksnes region, Skriveru region and in other regions. We believe that up to now the given financial support in the amount of 30 thousand  lats is stable investment for creating save environment for youth and we are glad that we can give the same support to Riga schools.”

The aim of the programme is to promote successful development of schools as a family support centres.

By participating in the programme, societies can receive financial aid for premises needed for extracurricular activities: for the repair, furniture and necessary tools needed for extracurricular activities.
